Towards the end of last year, Meta gave us a glimpse of their upcoming VR headset codenamed « Mirror Lake ». Although details about the headset are still pretty scarce, we now have a render of what it might look like, courtesy of Douglas Lanman, Meta’s director of display systems research. The new render was shown off as part of Lanman’s talk « How to Pass the Visual Turing Test in AR/VR » at The University of Arizona. The headset looks pretty sleek and compact, and promises some significant advancements. One of the most notable features is the reverse passthrough system which displays an image of the wearer’s eyes on the front of the headset, similar to Apple’s EyeSight feature on the Vision Pro.
